PURPOSE
The By-Laws of the Society state that "The
purpose of this Corporation is to encourage studies connected
with the military history of our own and other countries, the
maintenance of social meetings for the discussion of the same
and cooperation with organizations with similar goals and purposes."

The Society presently consists of approximately
one hundred-fifty members, most of whom reside in the Greater
Boston area. Two business meetings are held each year, a semiannual
spring gathering, and the annual meeting in the fall. Additionally,
other social meetings, highlighted by a yearly Christmas Luncheon,
are held. Also, the Society in accord with its By-Laws, and in
cooperation with other lke organizations such as the Civil
War Committee of the Union Club (Boston) and Civil
War Roundtable of Dedham, participates in joint meetings.
The usual format is a social hour, dining and presentation by
a guest lecturer or member. (Visit events

Friday Lunch Meetings
Informal Lunch Meetings are scheduled during the
year and announced in the newsletter and the web site. A lunch
menu is selected by the Society Events Coordinator who collects
a pre-announced fee at the door. After lunch, a presentation delivered
by a guest speaker/member on a military historical subject begins
(30-40 minutes) followed by a Q & A session.

Sometimes there is a tour of a military site. Examples include the
